DUTIES: Performs routine cleaning and
maintenance of all rail signal equipment.
Installs signal equipment. Performs routine testing and repair of rail
signal equipment under the direction of Lead Signal Technician Grade 6, Signal
Technicians Grade 6 and Signal Technicians Grade 5. Routes trains through work areas. Responds to trouble calls and emergencies. Records a written log of all work
activities. Performs additional duties
as may be required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants
must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent, and must have completed
technical high school courses or post high school courses in electrical theory
and/or basic electronics to enable testing and repairing of electronic rail signal
equipment, including circuits carrying lethal voltages (480 volts AC and 600
volts DC). Applicants must also have a
valid Ohio Driver's License.
ADDITIONAL
INFORMATION: The performance of
these duties may be required at any time of the day or night, any day and/or
night of the week. The position is a
bargaining unit position. The position
is also safety sensitive and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing. Candidates are required to perform the
duties of the position, which may include working with circuits
carrying lethal voltages (480 volts AC and 600 volts DC).
Examination
Information: Eligible candidates will be notified of the
exact time and place of the examination. The examination process will consist
of three parts to include a written examination, performance assessment and/or
interview, and record evaluation for internal candidates. The record
evaluation will be weighted as 15% of the overall examination score for
candidates who have passed the written and performance assessment/interview.
Record evaluation information will be obtained from the candidate’s
supervisor. Candidates must meet all
record evaluation criteria in order to gain the full 15% weighting. .
Candidates must pass the written examination to be eligible to proceed
to additional parts of the examination process required to establish the
eligibility for the position.
Candidates will become eligible based on the composite scores from each
part of the examination process. In
accordance with the Merit Systems Rules, internal candidates who become
eligible will be given preference over external candidates. Record evaluation criteria may include, but
not limited to, an employee’s attendance and discipline record for one rolling
year back at the time of review. Records evaluation information includes a
review of the following:

Duties
Supervises Radio, Electronic and Destination Sign Repair
Technicians, Grades 4,5,and 6. Analyzes problematic electronic component
trends. Develops, implements and
supervises the mobile repair and preventative maintenance programs, ensures
on-going testing and maintenance of Electronic/Mechanical Equipment. Coordinates
and directs all related Fare collection, radio, electronic and destination sign
maintenance schedules for revenue and non-revenue vehicles, stations and
fare-gates throughout the Authority.
Responsible for communicating and resolving all fare collection
equipment related maintenance security issues with the Revenue Department and
Transit police. Leads project team in
developing related solutions to improve and appropriately maintain Fare
collection, radio, electronic and destination sign systems throughout the
Authority. Obtains schematics of
electrical parts or electronics systems.
Completes all necessary computer entries and paperwork. Maintains stock
of electronic component parts.
Candidate will enforce / administer various policies and procedures as
required that include but are not limited to: the Attendance policy, Overtime
procedures and the Positive Discipline program. Performs other duties of a
similar nature as may be required.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants
must have at least a high school diploma or equivalent (GED), and have
completed technical courses in electrical circuits and electronics as part of
high school or post high school programs.
An Associates Degree in a related field is preferred. Applicants must
have experience in a lead role administering preventive maintenance programs
for mechanical/electrical equipment. At
least two (2) years supervisory experience is preferred. Applicants must have
three (3) years of experience troubleshooting and diagnosing
electrical/electronic problems including circuit board problems. Experience
must also include working with a trunked radio system, electrical circuit
boards, reading and interpreting circuit diagrams and schematics and
troubleshooting and diagnosing circuit board problems.
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $53,453 - $70,826 annually.

DUTIES:
Under
the direction of the Manager of Operations & Maintenance Training/RAIL,
designs, develops, delivers and evaluates
all Power and Way Training initiatives. Functions as a catalyst for the
implementation of all Rail and Safety training programs & interventions.
Conducts training in all aspects of safety including: Regulatory requirements
e.g. OSHA, EPA, APTA, NFPA and RTA Policies & Procedures. Maintains
individual required certifications. Participates in the development of training
strategic initiatives, and schedules programs regularly with appropriate
departments/divisions to implement the plan.
Actively participates in District Safety Committees. Develops and
conducts training of authority SOP’s as directed. Updates training programs to reflect current trends and
materials. Evaluates programs for accuracy of content. Maintains Training
Records. Works with the Manager of Operations & Maintenance Training/RAIL
and stakeholders to provide all required training initiatives. Coordinates all
programs conducted by external vendors.
Participates as an integral team member of the Employee Development
& Training Department. Organizes and prepares reports and records of all
training activities. Performs other
duties of a similar nature as may be required.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must have significant work experience in a electrical/power distribution environment (rail
transportation: signals, substations and track preferred). Minimum of two (2)
years of experience training personnel in an electrical/power distribution
environment (rail transportation: signals, substations and track preferred).
Must have a minimum of high school diploma. Advanced degree (2 or
4 year) is strongly preferred. Applicants must have a strong background in OSHA,
FRA, NFPA and other regulatory related initiatives. Applicants must possess a
valid Ohio Driver's License with a good driving record. Applicants must have excellent writing
skills, and working knowledge with MS Office specifically: Excel, Word, Access,
Project Management and Power Point.
Must be able to work alternative shifts on an as needed basis.
